Welcome back to your second online art assignment. I hope you enjoyed the first assignment (even if you didn't - that's ok, time to move on!). Anyway, today I would like you to explore the world of animation and the various ways we can create movement through different media.

I would like you to first research a few types of animation. The above animation is done by a very talented 7th grader... if you know who he is then be sure to compliment his hard work, it's a great example of what you can create for this project.

This lesson will have a lot of choices. Please take some time before you commit to a media and look at all the information. You will be asked to explore ONE of the techniques below. For 7th graders, we briefly worked with this media using your drawing tablets and Krita. You are more than welcome to continue this media or to explore new methods.

When you are working with these images, I would suggest using iMovie with your MacBooks. You have been working with iMovie in your Music classes, however there are also great tutorials online if you need a few reminders on how to use the program:

Now, I know that some of you may not be as digitally inclined and that is perfectly fine. If you would like, you can go old school and explore flip books. Here is a tutorial on how to create one:

Materials:

-Paper

-Marker/Pencil

-Patience!

In this tutorial, the artist goes over a few different examples and you can explore the most basic or get as detailed as you like. You can try recording the flip book and sending me the file or you can keep the flip book and hand it into me when we return to school.

Have fun and be sure to check out the blog next week for another art assignment.
