Hello and welcome to your 3rd online art assignment. First, I would like to take a moment and remind you that if you are still working on your animation project then continue working on that and you can skip this week's assignment. I only want you spending 45-55 minutes a week on your artwork. If you are enjoying the project and want to continue then please do so but you are not required to spend any extra time finishing your work.

Next, on the with assignment! This week is a fun introduction to abstract photography. I will provide an alternative lesson in case some of you do not have a camera, phone or laptop but most of you should be able to use some form of technology to explore this lesson.

Abstract photography involves exploring your surroundings in a unique way.

1. Find something that looks visually interesting to you.

2. Take a picture of that object. Now, take ten more pictures of the same object but from different perspectives.

- Tilt your camera

- Have extreme close ups

- Explore the sharpness/blur of the image

3. You can also experiment by digitally altering your photograph to enhance the characteristics that you like. For example, in the picture above of the watercolors, I emphasized the color and adjusted the saturation in order to really make the colors pop since that is what captured my interest when I first took the photograph.

4. Send me your work!

If you do not have access to a camera, laptop, phone, etc. then you may explore an abstract drawing.

1. Draw a slow careful scribble on your paper.

2. Add additional lines, shapes, etc to make the composition more visually interesting.

3. Explore shading with a graphite pencil or colored pencil to enhance what you like about your image.

4. Send me your work!
