So, I may be way more excited about this weeks project than I should be but that's OK! This week... we're going to make pet rocks! They are so much fun and the best part is that you can do so much with them. Yes, we're going to make friends with a rock. And it will be great!

You may have noticed that you do have the same assignment as the K-4th grade kiddos but that's because this is a fun activity that I think everyone could enjoy. Also, you can apply additional time to make your pet rock and make it pretty amazing.

Materials:

- Rock

- Sharpie or another kind of permanent marker

Optional:

- Yarn

- Glue (Hot Glue gun if you are working with an adult)

- Googly Eyes

- Paint (Acrylic works best for this project but it will not wash out so be careful)

- Paper

- Felt

1. So, first thing, we need a rock. You might have to go outside and find one or, if you're like my kiddo, you have a million special rocks stashed in your bedroom so you can use one of those.

2. Next, you will need to decide what you would like to turn your rock into. It can be something serious or silly. You could do an animal, a monster or a blob. If you would like to paint your rock, you will have to paint it first and then let it dry and add the details on later.

3. Pick out the materials you would like to use to decorate your rock. Listed above are some great options to make your rock truly unique! You can add hair, horns, wings, etc. Have fun! If you do want to use a hot glue gun, please make sure an adult is there to help.

4. Send me a picture of your pet!
