This post will contain the first online assignment for your at home art learning experience. You should have already completed two assignments from the packet that was sent home. If you spent two art sessions working on the same project then please just let me know when you turn in your work once we return to school.

The first assignment is going to be a self portrait. A self portrait is a drawing you create of yourself (I might kinda sorta miss seeing your crazy faces). Sometimes these images can be serious or silly. There will be materials listed for the basics of what you will need but you can also explore various media as well (colored pencils, markers, watercolors, sharpies, paint, digital art, etc - use what you have!)

Materials:

- Paper

- Pencil

1. Decide what shape you would like your face to be. You will want your face to take up most of the space on the paper. Work on drawing lightly so you can erase mistakes if you need to.

2. What about your hair?! Are you bald? I didn't think so... so you can pick out the type of hair you would like and work on drawing that or you can come up with something completely your own.

3. And your lovely face - yes, you have a lovely face! And... you'll have to add details. What emotion are you feeling (other than annoyed with me calling your face lovely)? Is your face going to be silly, happy, mad, etc? Think about trying to draw an expression and what that would look like on paper.

4. That's it for today! I know, it went by fast. If you are enjoying the assignment and want to keep going there are additional steps below. Remember, have fun with this assignment.

5. Depending on what you have for materials at home you may want to go over your line work with sharpie. After you have finished tracing please remember to erase any extra pencil lines you can see.

6. And finally - COLOR! What would you like to use to add color? Perhaps you have watercolors at your house, or crayons, or markers, or colored pencils... there are so many options. Have fun, go slow and take your time!

7. Take a picture and send it to me - I would love to see your adorable faces!
